Volvo Car India has introduced its flagship three-row electric SUV, the EX90, at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹1.26 crore. The launch marks the Swedish luxury carmaker's entry into the high-end electric passenger vehicle segment with its most advanced production vehicle yet.
The pricing positions the vehicle approximately ₹27.2 lakh above the combustion-powered XC90 while placing it in direct competition with rival luxury electric models. Company officials note that the vehicle serves as a technology-led flagship rather than a direct electric conversion of an existing fossil-fuel model.
Built on an 800V dedicated electric architecture designated as the SPA2 platform, the EX90 comes to the domestic market as a fully built unit imported via the completely built-up route. The powertrain utilizes a 106 kWh battery pack paired with dual electric motors driving all four wheels. This configuration generates 456 hp and 670 Nm of torque.
Performance metrics indicate an acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, with top speed electronically restricted to 180 km/h. The WLTP-certified driving range reaches up to 625 km on a single charge. The 800V electrical system permits DC fast charging up to 350 kW, enabling a battery replenishment from 10 to 80 percent in roughly 22 minutes under optimal conditions.
The vehicle is offered in a single, fully loaded six-seater layout featuring second-row captain chairs, Nappa leather upholstery, a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio setup, air suspension, and an electrochromic sunroof. Safety equipment comprises a Level 2 driver assistance suite, a 360-degree camera, and structural design elements aligned with strict crash-test standards.
Prospective buyers placing bookings prior to December 31, 2026, qualify for an introductory package that includes an 11 kW wallbox home charger, a three-year service plan, and a 65 percent buyback guarantee after three years.
Customer test drives are scheduled to begin in November, with retail deliveries expected to commence in January 2027. Dealerships across the country have opened order books for the flagship model.
