Cockroach Janta Party co-convenor Saurav Das submitted a formal intimation letter to the Delhi Police at the Parliament Street police station on Wednesday, laying out plans for a mass protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10. Organisers stated that the demonstration will press for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demand sweeping reforms within the Election Commission of India.

The development follows a turbulent spell of political friction in the national capital, marked by consecutive days of high-profile detentions. Earlier in the week, Delhi Police detained approximately 260 opposition demonstrators, including ten Members of Parliament, as INDIA bloc leaders attempted to march toward election offices. Lawmakers including Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were taken into custody during the demonstrations before being released later in the evening.

Speaking to mediapersons outside the police station after completing the required paperwork and submitting the notification, Mr. Das asserted that youth delegations from across the country are expected to arrive in the capital for the upcoming demonstration. He maintained that the gathering would proceed under the constitutional framework of peaceful assembly, adding that organizers have provided the necessary undertakings to local law enforcement to streamline traffic and security arrangements.

Police authorities have stepped up security measures around central Delhi zones and designated demonstration points following the escalation of street agitations. While organizers insist that Jantar Mantar remains a historic site designated for public assemblies, law enforcement agencies have reviewed security protocols and deployed additional barricades near key administrative corridors to maintain public order.

The ongoing agitation centers on contentious disputes over electoral roll revisions and procedures within the poll panel. Opposition parties and associated youth fronts have accused the Election Commission of procedural irregularities during the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls, demanding a complete overhaul of administrative oversight at the highest level.

Ruling party representatives have strongly rejected the allegations, characterizing the street protests as an attempt to exert undue pressure on independent constitutional institutions. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders defended the poll body's administrative functions and criticized the opposition for disrupting public order through sustained street agitation.

With the October 10 demonstration drawing closer, security agencies remain on high alert across central Delhi. Organisers have urged supporters to prepare for a prolonged campaign, indicating that public mobilization will continue until their core demands regarding electoral reforms and institutional accountability are addressed.
