Application windows for multiple major scholarship programmes supporting higher education in India have entered their final weeks, with critical deadlines falling throughout October 2026. The active funding opportunities cover diverse fields such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine, and management, offering successful candidates annual financial assistance ranging from fixed one-time awards to continuous yearly grants.
These provisions arrive as students across the country finalise academic planning for upcoming sessions, where financial constraints often dictate institutional choices. The availability of targeted funding aims to bridge the economic gap for high-achieving demographic segments, particularly women and economically disadvantaged students pursuing professional and technical qualifications.
Among the prominent openings is the WINGS (Women INspiring Growth in STEM) Scholarship Programme, which focuses on encouraging female participation in technical disciplines. Established through the IIT Bombay Heritage Foundation by alumnus Bharat Desai and Neerja Sethi, the initiative invites applications from female students planning to enter undergraduate STEM courses at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, for the 2027–28 academic session.
Selected recipients under the WINGS scheme receive ₹2 lakh annually towards tuition expenses. Program guidelines specify that applicants must not concurrently hold another government tuition grant or scholarship, and awardees are required to maintain a cumulative performance index of 6.0 or higher to renew the support across subsequent years. The application window for this specific programme closes on October 31, 2026.
Parallel opportunities closing within the month include medical and general undergraduate support initiatives. The Concentrix Scholarship Programme has opened applications for female students enrolled in the first year of an MBBS course at government medical institutions, providing up to ₹65,000 annually to cover institutional fees, books, and related academic costs for candidates with a parental income ceiling of ₹5 lakh. That application cycle closes on October 30, 2026.
Additionally, the DXC Progressing Minds Scholarship offers a one-time grant of ₹50,000 to eligible women and transgender students pursuing undergraduate degrees in STEM fields nationwide, targeting families with an annual income under ₹4 lakh. The deadline for the DXC initiative is set for October 15, 2026.
Educational administrators advise prospective applicants to verify individual eligibility criteria, income thresholds, and document requirements on designated portals prior to the respective closing dates. Late submissions are not entertained by the administering trusts, making early document compilation essential for aspirants seeking financial relief.
