Domestic handset manufacturer Lava International has announced a price revision of up to Rs 3,000 across its smartphone portfolio in India, effective November 15, citing ongoing memory shortages. The adjustment marks the latest upward shift by device makers responding to persistent supply chain pressures within the global semiconductor sector.

The price adjustment matters for budget and mid-range buyers across the country, as component constraints translate into higher retail costs for affordable mobile devices. Lava operates as a prominent homegrown player competing against larger international brands in the sub-tier segments of the Indian market.

In an official statement released over the weekend, the company pointed to tightening supplies in memory modules as the primary driver behind the upcoming change. Procurement expenses for hardware input components have climbed steadily throughout the year, forcing manufacturers to adjust their pricing structures.

The revision is capped at Rs 3,000, meaning that individual models will not necessarily experience a uniform increase. The company has yet to release a detailed schedule outlining revised rates or specific model-by-model increases for its devices.

The upcoming changes will apply nationwide across both online e-commerce platforms and the brand's offline retail distribution network. Consumers seeking to purchase or upgrade devices have been advised by the firm to utilize current promotional rates before the deadline.

Existing inventory remains accessible at prevailing festive prices through retail partners and digital storefronts until the mid-November transition takes effect. Industry analysts note that several other major brands have similarly adjusted smartphone prices over recent months to offset rising production expenditures.

Further clarity regarding model-specific pricing is expected to emerge closer to the implementation date as distribution channels prepare for the updated rate cards.
