The Karnataka School Education and Literacy Department has extended the final application deadline for 247 principal vacancies across government Pre-University colleges to October 24, 2026. Eligible candidates seeking appointment to the Group-A positions can now submit their forms through the official portal managed by the Karnataka Examinations Authority.

The extension provides administrative relief to eligible educators aiming to complete their submissions ahead of the revised cutoff. This recruitment drive handles administrative leadership appointments within the state education framework, directly impacting institutional oversight across government-run PU institutions.

Out of the 247 total openings, 216 positions fall under the Residual Parent Cadre, while the remaining 31 vacancies are allocated to the Kalyana Karnataka Local Cadre. The application window was adjusted following administrative reviews of the ongoing recruitment schedule handled through the state testing agency.

Applicants must note that the final date for completing the online application is October 24, 2026, while the window for remitting the required application fee remains open until October 25, 2026. Candidates failing to complete fee payments within this extended timeline will have their submissions invalidated.

Eligibility for these Group-A posts is restricted to serving lecturers within government Pre-University colleges who have completed a minimum of 10 years of service in the lecturer cadre alongside successful probation completion. Fresh applicants from outside the state service are ineligible to apply.

Selected candidates will be placed in the pay scale ranging from ₹90,200 to ₹1,59,200 per month. The selection procedure requires candidates to appear for a competitive examination administered by the authority, which comprises three separate papers.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority will announce the specific dates for the competitive written examination on its portal following the conclusion of the registration process. Applicants are advised to preserve downloaded copies of their submitted forms and payment receipts for future verification.
