New Delhi has strongly condemned the deadly missile assault on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, describing repeated strikes targeting civilians and civil infrastructure as completely unacceptable. The attack, which struck the Saudi capital's primary aviation hub on October 10, resulted in 12 fatalities and left more than 300 individuals wounded.

The security development holds direct relevance for India given the sizeable diaspora residing in the Gulf region, alongside extensive commercial and civil aviation links connecting Indian metros to Saudi Arabia. The Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed that multiple Indian nationals sustained injuries in the strike, prompting immediate consular intervention to monitor hospital admissions and extend support to affected families.

In an official statement released in New Delhi, the Ministry of External Affairs denounced the incident as a dastardly act. The ministry stated that ongoing assaults on population centres and non-military installations must cease immediately, while reiterating India's diplomatic solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia in safeguarding national sovereignty.

Saudi authorities attributed the aerial strike to Yemen-aligned Houthi militants, marking a sharp escalation in regional hostilities. The assault caused extensive damage to terminal facilities at the airport and forced a temporary suspension of routine flight operations, leaving thousands of international travellers stranded across transit networks.

Diplomatic missions operating in the Saudi capital have issued advisories urging foreign nationals to exercise extreme caution and adhere strictly to local safety guidelines. Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy remains in close coordination with local medical authorities in Riyadh to track the recovery of injured citizens and facilitate administrative assistance.

Regional security monitors note that the escalation threatens wider stability across the Middle East just as international energy and diplomatic summits are scheduled. New Delhi continues to monitor the situation closely, emphasizing the urgent necessity for a return to peace and normalcy through diplomatic channels.
