Delhi Police have filed multiple first information reports against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in connection with high-voltage demonstrations targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The police action follows consecutive days of opposition-led street rallies in the national capital over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The latest criminal cases invoke legal provisions relating to assault on police personnel, obstruction of public servants during official duties, and violation of prohibitory orders. Authorities stated that the cases stem from confrontations during the opposition march towards Jantar Mantar. Officials confirmed that a total of 91 individuals, including several parliamentarians, were detained during the clashes.

The demonstrations erupted as opposition parties pressed demands for the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the poll panel of administrative bias and vote deletion under the ongoing electoral roll revision. Protesters previously attempted to stage a sit-in inside Akashvani Bhawan, leading to initial detentions and trespassing allegations.

Senior Congress leaders strongly condemned the police filing of criminal charges, accusing the administration of attempting to suppress peaceful dissent. Party representatives asserted that opposition legislators were merely exercising their democratic rights to protest against systemic electoral discrepancies.

Meanwhile, the Cockroach Janata Party announced plans to proceed with a planned mobilization in the capital. Organiser Saurav Das stated that representatives would visit the Parliament Street Police Station to officially inform law enforcement regarding the scheduled October 10 demonstration, emphasizing adherence to constitutional assembly frameworks.

Security forces remain on high alert across Lutyens' Delhi near key government installations and the Election Commission office. Additional security personnel have been deployed to manage crowds as opposition groups and allied student organizations continue their state-wide agitation demanding an overhaul of the electoral machinery.
