Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained by police officers directly inside an aircraft at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Saturday. The dramatic in-flight interception unfolded minutes after the flight touched down from Mumbai, catching airline officials by surprise as security personnel moved to thwart a planned demonstration.

The detentions form part of a sweeping security crackdown across the national capital to block a proposed mobilisation at Jantar Mantar. The political outfit had called for a public demonstration to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

According to details emerging from the tarmac, security forces modified the aircraft's parking bay prior to landing. Soon after the wheels touched the runway, police personnel accompanied by security staff boarded the cabin. Visuals shared from inside the aircraft showed brief verbal exchanges as leaders questioned the urgency of boarding the plane rather than waiting for passengers to deboard.

Law enforcement authorities deployed women officers onto the aircraft to execute the preventive detentions. Security planners opted for this approach to navigate the confined aisles of the cabin and minimize the potential for physical escalation during the operation.

Representatives of the political movement strongly condemned the police action, characterizing the in-flight detentions as a preemptive measure designed to decapitate the leadership structure before the demonstration could commence. Party statements claimed that the heavy-handed approach reflected official anxiety over growing youth participation.

Security protocols around central Delhi remained heavily reinforced, with thousands of security personnel deployed, barricades erected, and strict limitations placed on public movement near key administrative zones. Authorities maintained that the gathering lacked the necessary administrative clearances, justifying the preventive measures to preserve public order.

Airline representatives have sought formal clarity from aviation regulators regarding the procedural guidelines and coordination protocols governing law enforcement entry into commercial aircraft. Further administrative reviews on security protocol coordination are expected in the coming days.
