Ahead of the upcoming inauguration of Namma Metro's Pink Line, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has formulated a proposal to introduce five dedicated feeder bus routes designed to improve last-mile commuter access. The transport utility intends to deploy compact seven-metre buses tailored for narrower residential lanes along the transit corridor.
Under the draft blueprint, the corporation will allocate 30 vehicles to execute 415 daily trips across these five circuits. Officials confirmed that the targeted frequency during peak hours will be maintained at ten minutes per route to match metro train schedules.
Scheduled layouts indicate that the routes will link major stations and high-density zones, covering sectors such as Hulimavu, Tavarekere, Jayadeva Hospital, J.P. Nagar, and Uttarahalli. Additional connectivity loops are planned for BTM Layout, Arekere, Bilekahalli, and Begur Lake to absorb passenger inflow from the southern catchment areas.
Parallel to the physical route rollout, transport authorities are coordinating with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited to establish digital data integration. This technical collaboration aims to feed real-time bus arrival statistics directly onto display screens inside Pink Line metro stations.
Under this proposed information-sharing mechanism, passengers alighting from trains will be able to view expected bus arrival times for nearby stops before exiting the station concourse. Officials stated that this measure is intended to streamline multi-modal transfers and reduce waiting times on the street.
While these five corridors represent the new deployment plan for the upcoming corridor, the transport body already operates an extensive network beyond the southern terminal at Kalena Agrahara. Existing operations deploy 114 vehicles across 545 daily trips along Bannerghatta Road, Anekal, and Jigani.
Both transport bodies are currently finalising the operational modalities and API integrations required for the station display systems. Implementation schedules will run parallel to the phased opening timeline of the metro corridor.
