Civic authorities in Bengaluru have formulated a comprehensive strategy to overhaul major traffic intersections and high-density corridors to mitigate chronic vehicular congestion. The initiative aims to address severe bottlenecks that routinely slow movement across key metropolitan stretches.
The plan carries significant weight for daily commuters and local businesses, who lose productive hours navigating gridlocked intersections. Streamlining these choking points is expected to lower transit times and improve overall mobility across the urban center.
Under the proposed measures, the Bengaluru Traffic Police and municipal administration have mapped out high-pressure transit nodes requiring immediate structural interventions. The program encompasses the construction of grade-separated structures, including new flyovers and underpasses at critical junctions and railway crossings.
Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda stated that coordination efforts are already underway alongside ward-level campaigns to clear localized hurdles. Authorities are prioritizing pedestrian safety, drainage upgrades, and the removal of encroachments adjacent to major roadways as part of the junction revamps.
Traffic management authorities noted that the infrastructure upgrades will be paired with technological enhancements. The deployment of adaptive traffic control signals and automated signaling systems is scheduled for rollout across numerous high-density intersections to dynamically manage vehicle flow.
Previous phases of urban transport upgrades have faced delays due to multi-agency coordination challenges and prolonged civil works by utility providers. To counter this, police oversight has been tightened to penalize contractors responsible for overdue road repairs near major junctions.
The concerned municipal bodies and transit committees will finalize execution timelines over the coming weeks, with phased construction set to commence along primary arterial corridors.
